Salmonella infection is widely distributed in the world and is common to different species of birds. The main problem with Salmonella infections is the transmission and production of infection of certain serotypes to humans. It has a form of intermittent excretion which makes it difficult to diagnose. The ELISA test that has been designed for Salmonella allows, in addition to detecting the presence of antibodies, to differentiate whether these are the result of disease or vaccination. It is not possible by using antibodies to differentiate which field strains infect the animals. To assess the disease status of the farm, the number of diseased animals in relation to all animals and the expected immune status must be confirmed. In this kit, the antibodies detect by the O antigen pathway and positive results can be obtained for different serotypes. However, it is recommended to confirm positive results with bacteriological methods.
