The EhrSpp MONODOSE dtec-qPCR contains individual ready-to-use tubes containing all the necessary components for the detection of Ehrlichia spp. by qPCR. Ehrlichia spp. are small, gram-negative, obligate intracellular bacteria. Several species can cause infection (Ehrlichiosis) in humans. These diseases are considered zoonotic since the main reservoir of the pathogen is found in animal species, generally mammals. They replicate in the cytoplasmic vacuoles of host cells, especially granulocytes and monocytes, to form microcolonies called morulae. These agents are transmitted through the bite of an infected tick. Rodents, deer, roe deer, foxes, cows, sheep, goats, horses and dogs are reservoirs of these bacteria in Europe. Infection in humans manifests as a non-specific flu-like illness.
