Proteinase K is a highly reactive non-specific serine protease belonging to the Peptidase S8 family.
\n(subtilisin). Used in Molecular Biology to digest proteins in cell lysates (tissue, cell culture cells, etc.).
\nand eliminate contamination of nucleic acid purifications.
\nThe addition of Proteinase K to nucleic acid purification reactions rapidly inactivates nucleases that might otherwise degrade DNA or RNA during the process.<\/p>\n
